STUDENTS

DRIVERS ED: The Opportunities After School Program will be offering the next Drivers Ed Class with our NEW School, Golden State Driving School. Classes will be held on February 7th, 14th, & 28th from 3:30 - 5:30 in the Computer Lab, located in the Media Center. For more information and sign ups go to room 401 during lunch or after school. More classes will be available in March, April & May.

STUDY HALL is available to ALL students! Every Tuesday and Thursday in the Media Center from 2:30 - 4:45 PM. A light snack & bus passes will be provided for those students needing transportation.- Vázquez


Attention Serra High School! The Winter Ball (Moonlit Mardi Gras) is going to be on Saturday February 26th at the hall of champions in Balboa Park. Download your dance agreement today from the serra website or the ASB facebook page, or pick one up from the financial office. Tickets are $25 with and ASB card and $30 without. Don’t forget.... The Moonlit Mardi Gras will be poppin’ Saturday February 26th at the Hall of Champions. Don’t be the only one not getting down with the get down!

The following deadlines for a few February scholarships are fast approaching: Feb 4th: American Council of Engineering Companies California and Feb 9th: KFC Colonel’s Scholars. Apply now if you haven’t done so yet!

ATTENTION ALL CONQUISTADORS: Are you creative with a video camera? Interested in winning up to $2,500? Then the Courageous Persuaders Scholarship might be for you. This scholarship is open to ALL high school students’ grades 9-12. All you have to do is create a 30-second video/TV commercial
targeted at middle school students to warn them about the dangers of underage drinking. Emphasis is placed on the concept of the message, not on the production values. Download an application from Naviance or visit www.courageouspersuaders.com. Deadline is February 10, 2011.

ATTENTION SENIORS: The City of San Diego – Engineering and Capital Projects Dept and American Council of Engineering Companies of California is offering scholarships up to $1,500 to seniors who desire a career in the field of Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, Structural, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical) and Land Surveying. Application is available in the Counseling Center. Deadline to apply is February 4, 2011.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The Better Business Bureau is seeking interested juniors and seniors to participate in the 2011 Student Ambassador Program. Because young consumers are easy targets for scam artists, student ambassadors in the program will be trained to educate peer groups on campus on how to be pro-active in their marketplace research, and how to identify and protect themselves from scams and frauds. As an incentive, scholarships and prizes will be awarded. If interested, pick up an application in the Counseling Center. Deadline to apply is February 4, 2011.
